This session is open to all ages and all levels of practitioners. New beginners will benefit from the Qigong exercises that will build and promote healthy healing throughout the body and allow you to share this experience with a partner. Tai Chi has now been recognized by the Harvard Medical School, The Centers for Disease Control, Consumer Reports, and Reader’s Digest as an excellent form of exercise for adults who want to improve blood pressure, balance, respiratory ailments, arthritis, joint discomfort, back pain, and general well being. The Chinese have been practicing Tai Chi and Qigong (energy development) exercises for thousands of years. These simple, smooth flowing, meditation-in-motion exercises are now taking hold in the USA with verifiable results. The gentle, slow movements stimulate your joints and organs without creating stress or overexertion. An excellent exercise for adults, these movements can be performed sitting or standing. The Tai Chi Ruler will be incorporated into the sessions as a tool for learning Tai Chi movements without extended choreography or detailed postures. If you have been participating in the ongoing Tai Chi Ruler classes at the Senior Center with Steve Elliott of Blue Heron Tai Chi, bring your ruler and learn more ways to employ it in your daily practice. Born and raised in China, Master Jesse Tsao, PhD, is the 12th generation direct-line lineage holder of Chen style Tai Chi. He is internationally known as a Tai Chi Master, Qi Gong therapist, and alternative medicine and wellness consultant. He has been practicing Tai Chi for over 50 years, including 10 years of intensive study with world-renowned Grandmaster Li Deyin in Beijing, China, and won the 1980 gold medal at the Beijing Collegiate Wushu Competition. Master Jesse Tsao will introduce you to his new Partnered Qi Gong method which is a new technique that adopts a 3,000-year-old philosophy to create a fun exercise with a partner. This exercise focuses on opening energy channels, supplementing Qi surplus or deficit with a partner, and channeling energy to each other for effective power cultivation. Don’t have a partner? Share your Qi with the universe! Master Tsao will show you how. The ancient Chinese Tai Chi Ruler is gaining popularity as a tool for intensifying and mobilizing Qi, meditation and massage. Its practice cultivates single-minded, present moment awareness. Master Jesse Tsao’s Ruler form also gives beginning Tai Chi students a head start in learning traditional Tai Chi. The variables are greatly reduced and the movements are incorporated into “muscle memory” much easier. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing, and comfortable shoes with flexible soles.
