Osteoporosis is a debilitating disease that causes fragile bones. It has no symptoms and requires a bone density test to be detected. Undetected, it can lead to bone fractures – usually as a result of a fall. Tai Chi combats this disease in several ways. It improves balance and stability to prevent falls and provides weight-bearing exercise to improve bone density. This program is designed by Doctor Paul Lam of Australia and is endorsed by the Australia Osteoporosis Foundation. In rigorous scientific tests, it slowed down the loss of bone density threefold.
